Safari Blue Excursion (whole day)

Departure to Fumba approx. 07:45, arrival back in Michamvi approx. 18:30

Safari Blue is a local tour operator, specializing in boat trips e.g. guided snorkeling, dolphin safaris (sighting not guaranteed) or sailing trips on a traditional hand-crafted dhow. Founded in 1996, the tour operator (English management) and their local boat captains, aim to provide customers with an unforgettable experience. Offering work and training opportunities, they are striving to sustainably support Zanzibar and its people.

Starting point of this day trip is Fumba, a village on the Menai Bay. This marine conservation area is of unique beauty and situated just 20 minutes south-west of Stone Town. After your arrival, you will gather on the beach and board the boats. Depending on the tide, you will either walk to the dhow or leave from the beach to Kwale, a small island off the shore of Fumba. The hand-built sailing dhows, made of mahagony, are comfortable and equipped to meet safety standards. Refreshments,  (soda, beer & water), fruits and local snacks will be provided on board.

Depending on the weather and snorkeling abilities of participants, two spots, the reef at Kwale and the sandbank will be chosen for snorkeling.

For lunch you will be served a culinary highlight: a rich Zanzibar meal with grilled fish, slipper lobster and calamari and fruit-tasting for dessert, rounded off with coffee and Amarula. Afterwards, you can either take a short walk to the Baobab tree or then relax on the beach.

An hour after lunch, depending on the tide, the captains will skillfully navigate their dhows into a hidden mangrove lagoon, where you can swim, should the tide be high enough.

With hoisted sails, you will be returning to Fumba, were your taxi will bring you back to Michamvi.
